The objective of the research is to find out the influence of THIEVES strategy toward students reading comprehension ability. The research applied quantitative method with true experimental research design. The populations of this research were the students of eighth grade in SMPN 1 Ciruas, and were taken by cluster random sampling as the experimental group (VIII F) and control group (VIII D). In collecting the data, the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test consisting of 20 multiple choice items. In analyzing the data, the researcher used T-test. The result of the calculation showed that in the significance degree of 5% is that tcount≥ ttable, or 7.72 ≥ 1.99. It means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted andnull hypothesis (Ho) is rejected . Therefore, it can be concluded that there is any influence of using THIEVES strategy toward students reading comprehension ability. Furthermore, THIEVES can be used as an alternative strategy for teaching English especially in reading skill.
