The objective of the research is to find out the effectiveness of using Listen-Read-Discussion (LRD) strategy toward students‟ reading comprehension in recount text at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Ciruas. This research used quantitative approach through quasi experimental as research design. The populations of the research were all of eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Ciruas. The samples of the research were 60 students, 30 students in VIII A as the experimental class and 30 students in VIII I as the control class. The instrument of the research was reading comprehension test. The test form was multiple choice that consisted 20 items. The result of T-test showed that t count was higher than t table or 4.81 ≥ 2.00. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Hα) was accepted. It can be concluded that Listen-Read-Discussion (LRD) strategy is effective toward students‟ reading comprehension in recount text at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Ciruas.
