The objective of of this research is to investigate the use of nonverbal communication in academic presentation and to describe the reasons of the use nonverbal communication in academic presentation at SMAN 3 Cilegon. The researcher was conducted on 15th April 2019, in academic presentation of the participant ten grade students at SMAN 3 Cilegon. Qualitative research was employed to gain the data needed to answer research question, three technique were employed; observation, questionnaire, and interview. The researcher used observation to find out the types of nonverbal communication in academic presentation. On the other hand, questionnaire and interview were used to answer reasons toward to used of nonverbal communication in classroom presentation. The data analysis showed that the most occurred nonverbal communication was gesture. Moreover, students preffered used gesture and their eye contact to help conveying the messages, and facial expression to complement to make the presentation more interesting. The students at SMAN 3 Cilegon gave gave the positive response toward the use of nonverbal communication in classroom presentation.
