THE INFLUENCE OF USING GRAMMARLY (SOFTWARE) TOWARD STUDENTSí WRITING SKILL IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT THE SEVENTH GRADE OF SMPN 01 PANDEGLANG

The objective of this research was to find out the influence of using Grammarly (software) toward the students’ writing skill in descriptive text. This research used true experimental with randomized subjects’ pre-test – post-test design (Ary, Jacobs, Sorensen and Razavieh, 2010: 307). The data were obtained from pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was the seventh grade of SMPN 01 Pandeglang and the sample of this research was taken from two classes which was consisted 36 students for each class. Those two classes were divided into experiment class and control class. To analyze the validity and reliability of the test, the researcher used content validity and inter-rater reliability. Based on the analysis test was valid and reliable. To know the influence of using Grammarly (software), the data from pre-test and post-test was analyzed by using independent t-test. Based on the result, it was found that ≥ or 3.39 ≥ 1.99 it means that the alternative hypothesis was received and the null hypothesis was rejected. It can be concluded that there was any influence of using Grammarly (Software) toward students’ writing skill in descriptive text at seventh grade in SMPN 01 Pandeglang.
