THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING DICTOGLOSS TECHNIQUE TOWARDS STUDENTSí LISTENING SKILL AT SEVENTH GRADE OF SMPN 1 CIRUAS

The objective of the research is to find out the effectiveness of the use of dictogloss technique towards students‟ listening skill at seventh grade of SMPN 1 Ciruas. This research used quantitative approach through quasi experimental as a research design. The samples that used in this research were the students of VII E as the experimental class and VII D as the control class. The experimental class consisted of 34 students while control class consisted of 29 students. So, the total sample was 63 students. The result showed that the average of total score in pretest for control group was 79.51 became 83.90 in post-test. While the average of total score in pre-test for experimental class was 70.71 became 92.52 in post-test. Then the result of t-test in this research showed that tcount was higher than ttable (2,56 > 1,99). It means that the alternative hypothesis (ha) was accepted. The result of gain score also showed that there was effectiveness with 52.94% for 18 sample of experimental class which means that those students were highly improved in listening skill by using dictogloss technique. So, the researcher concluded that there is an effectiveness of using dictogloss technique towards students‟ listening skill at seventh grade of SMPN 1 Ciruas.
