The objective of this research was to know the influence of clustering technique toward students writing skill in descriptive text at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas. The researcher used a quantitative approach by applying true experimental design for conducting the research. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas. The sample of this research was chosen based on simple random sampling. The groups were put into an experimental group and a control group. Each group consists of 30 students. Pre-test and post-test were given to the experimental group and control group. The treatment was given only to an experimental group for four meetings. The researcher used content validity and inter-rater reliability in order to make the instruments were valid and reliable. In testing the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test as formulas to know the influence of clustering technique toward students writing skill in descriptive text at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas. The calculation showed the result of is higher than (2.80 ≥ 2.00) with the significance 0.05 (5%). It can be concluded that there is an influence of clustering technique toward students writing skill in descriptive text at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas.
