THE INFLUENCE OF USING STORY MAPPING TOWARD STUDENTSí WRITING ABILITY ON NARRATIVE TEXT AT ELEVENTH GRADE OF SMAN 6 KOTA SERANG

The objective of this research was to find out whether there was a significant influence of using story mapping toward students’ writing ability on narrative text at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Kota Serang. The samples of this research were eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Kota Serang. They were XI IPS 2 as experimental Class and XI IPS 3 as control class. Each class consisted of 32 students. The method of this research used quantitative method. Quasi experimental research used as a design of this research. The data were gathered through test which were delivered into pre-test and posttest. The instrument of this research was a written test. The result of this research showed that the story mapping was significant influence to use in teaching writing narrative text. It can be seen from the calculation 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 and 𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒. The 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 was higher than 𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒. The result of 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 was 10.733, since the 𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒in the degree of significance 5% is 1.998. It showed that the comparison of 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 and 𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 is 10.733 ≥ 1.998. To sum up, t-test is higher than 𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒. So, there is significant influence of using story mapping toward students’ writing ability on narrative text.
