THE INFLUENCE OF PREZI SOFTWARE MULTIMEDIA USAGE TOWARD STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

The objective of the research was to find out the influence of prezi software multimedia usage toward students‟ reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMPN 4 Kota Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by applying true experimental design. The populations of this research were all of the students of the eighth grade in SMPN 4 Kota Serang in the second semester, school year 2017/2018. The samples were the students of VIII G as an experimental class and VIII H as a control class. Each class consisted of 30 students. The classes were chosen by cluster random sampling from nine classes. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test consisting of 20 multiple choice items A, B, C or D. In analyzing the data, the researcher used T-test. The result of the calculation showed that in the significance degree of 5% is tcount (6.49) is higher than ttable (2.00). It means the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that Prezi can be an alternative media for teaching English reading.
