The aim of this research was to find out the influence of using short dialogue toward students speaking ability. This research was conducted in SMP Yayasan Pendidikan Krakatau Steel (YPKS) Kota Cilegon. The researcher conducted this research by applying quantitative approach with true experimental. This research involved two classes of the eighth grade at SMP Yayasan Pendidikan Krakatau Steel (YPKS) Kota Cilegon chosen based on random sampling. One class was chosen as an experimental group and other one as the control group. Each classes consist of 30 students with total sample were 60 students. It is about 20% from population. The results of research shows that there is any influence of using Short Dialogue towards Students Speaking Ability by looking at the students improvement in speaking. It is shows that mean score in experimental group was 64.67 on pre-test and it became 73.47 on post-test. The hypothesis test used independent t-test. The result of this research showed that tcount > t-table (3.28 > 2.00). It means that there is a significant influence of using short dialogue towards students speaking ability. Based on the result of the research, the researcher concluded that short dialogue was one of the appropriate techniques influenced toward students speaking skill in order to be students became active in learning speaking.
