THE INFLUENCE OF USING L-R-D (LISTEN-READ-DISCUSS) STRATEGY IN NARRATIVE TEXT TOWARD STUDENTSí READING COMPREHENSION AT EIGHTH GRADE OF MTS. MIFTAHUL ULUM

The aim of the research is to find out whether there is any significant influence of using LRD Strategy toward students’ reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs. Miftahul Ulum. This research is quantitative research by using quasi-experimental method. The population of this research was all of the students at the Eighth grade of MTs. Miftahul Ulum. There are two classes in this research. The experimental class and control class. 35 students selected for each class. The researcher used purposive sampling technique to determine the sample. In this research, the students of experimental class could improve their reading comprehension. This proven by the result the mean of the pre-test of students in experimental class is 61.01 and in control is 56.01 while after the researcher gave several treatment the mean of post-test of students in experimental class which taught in learning reading comprehension in narrative text by using LRD Strategy improved to 77.07. This result is higher than the mean of the post-test of students at control class is 68.78 which taught in learning reading comprehension not using LRD Strategy. The researcher analyzed by using t-test. The result of this result revealed that the posttest scores were better than the pretest scores, it can be seen from the result of ttest. tcount 12.261 with df was 68 (N1+N2-2, 35+35-2 = 68). So, ttable= 1.995   = 0.05. Therefore, tcount was higher than ttable or 12.261   1.995. It means, LRD Strategy influence toward students’ reading comprehension, where the alternative hypothesis (Ha) be accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is refused. So, the researcher concludes that there is any significant influence of LRD Strategy toward students’ reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs. Miftahul Ulum.
