The objective of this research was to find out the effectiveness of using Realia toward students writing skill at the second grade of SMPN 11 Kota Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by applying true experimental design for conducted the research. The population of this research was the second grade students of SMPN 11 Kota Serang. The sample of this research was chosen based on sample random sampling. The groups were put into Experimental Group and Control Group. Each group consists of 30 students. Pre-test was given to the groups at the beginning of the phase. Then treatment was given only to experimental group for two meetings. To find the effectiveness, post-test was given to the groups. The researcher used content validity and inter-rater reliability in order to make the instruments was valid and reliable. In testing the hypothesis the researcher used t-test as formula to know the influence of using Realia toward students writing skill at the second grade of SMPN 11 Kota Serang. The calculation shows the result of is higher than (7.22 ≥ 2.00) with the significance 0.05 (5%). It means the alternative hypothesis is accepted. From those findings, it can be concluded that there was an effectiveness of using Realia toward students writing skill at the second grade of SMPN 11 Kota Serang.
