AN INFLUENCE OF ENGLISH SONG TOWARD STUDENTS VOCABULARY MASTERY AT SEVENTH GRADE OF SMPN 7 KOTA SERANG

The objective of this research was to find out the influence of English song toward students vocabulary mastery. The researcher used quasi experimental design for conducting the research. Quasi experimental design is different in subject that not randomly assigned to treatment groups. The population of this research was the seventh grade students of SMPN 7 Kota Serang consisted 357 students. This research used cluster random sampling, which consisted of two classes that was recommended by the English teacher. The experimental class was VII A with 35 students and VII C as control class with 30 students. To collect the data, pre-test and post-test were used Content validity to measure the objectivity and to know the validity of the test. The researcher also cooperated with the English teacher of SMPN 7 Kota Serang in scoring and Cronbach Alpha Formula to measure the reliability. In testing the hypothesis the researcher used t-test as formula to find out is there any influence of English song toward students vocabulary mastery at seventh grade of SMPN 7 Kota Serang. As the result the value of 𝐹𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 with the level of significance 0.05 (5 %) was 3.996 and 𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 was 2.00 and 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 was 4.591, 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 ≥ 𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 or 4.591 ≥ 2.00. Therefore, the Ho is rejected and Ha is received.
