The objective of this research is to find out the violation of Cooperative Principles by the characters in “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” Film by Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath, and Conrad Vernon which released at 2012. Moreover, this research aims in finding out the implied meaning of each violation that become the background of the violation which has different implied meaning based on the context of the conversation. The researcher conducted this research by applying quliatative approach with descriptive analysis as the design. The data was analyzed by using Miles and Huberman theory. The result found that there are 19 utterances that violated Cooperative Principles consisted of 2 utterances violated the maxim of quantity, 5 utterances violated maxim of quality, 6 utterances violated maxim of relation and 6 utterances violated maxim of manner. The violation of maxim of quantity is the most violation that appeared in “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” Film.
