The aim of this research was to identify code switching and code mixing used by the English teacher at tenth grade of SMAN 1 Kabupaten Tangerang. In this research there were two problems tried to be answered, they are types of code switching and code mixing used by the teacher, and the reason of code switching and code mixing usage. The researcher used qualitative descriptive method with triangulation technique as a technique in collecting data. The subject of this research was English teacher at tenth grade of SMAN 1 Kabupaten Tangerang. The object of this research was English teachers code switching and code mixing during teaching activity. The instruments of this research were documentation, observation and interview. From the result of the data that had been collected, there was one type of code switching used by the teachers metaphorical code switching. Meanwhile for code mixing there were two types used by the teacher such as insertion and alternation. Related to the reason of code switching and code mixing usage, there were four reasons found: talking about particular topic, interjection, repetition used of clarification, and to soften or strengthen request command.
