THE INFLUENCE OF MATCHING PICTURE GAME TOWARD STUDENTSí VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE SEVENTH GRADE OF SMPN 1 CIRUAS

The objective of the research was to identify the influence of using Matching Picture Game at Seventh Grade students of SMPN 1 Ciruas in 2016/2017 academic year. The research used quantitative research  method. It used the true experimental design as research method. There were two groups used in this research. The sample were selected by using cluster random sampling technique. The sample of this research were students of SMPN 1 Ciruas, 60 students selected for the experimental and control group. 30 students of class 7A were selected for the experimental group and 30 students of 7D as control group. The data was collected by using pre-test and post-test. Then, the post-test of both groups would be compared to find out the influence of matching picture game technique as teachhing vocabulary mastery. The result of the research shows that tcount is 5.29 and df in this study is 58, so based on the table of t-table the figure of 58 is 2.00. So, it was found that the t-count was higher than ttable in term of statistic, it can be seen as follow: 5.29 ≥ 2.00. the criteria of significant test: if t-calculation ≥ t-table so Ho rejected and Ha  accepted. It means that there was any significant influence of using matching picture game toward students vocabulary mastery. The mean score of experimental group got increased from 69.7 in pre-test to 79.3 in posttest. While the control got increase from 65.5 in pre-test to 67.5 inn post-test. Thus it can be seen that the control class improvement was not as significant as the experimental class. Through computing t-test, the researcher got tcount (5.29) is higher than ttable (2.00). So, the alternative hypothesis of the research was accepted. It can be concluded that there was an influence of matching picture game toward students vocabulary mastery.
