This study is intended to find the empirical evidence of mind mappings effectiveness in students achievement of reading narrative text. This research was conducted in SMAN 96 Jakarta. The population of this research was all students at the tenth grade. The sample was 34 students of experimental group and 34 students of control group. The researcher employed quasi experimental method with pre-test and post-test design and used sampling purposive technique as the sampling technique. The data was analyzed by using t-test. The result of post-test in experimental group increased higher than the reseult of post test control group. The mean score of post-test in experimental group was 76.47, besides the mean score of post-test in control group was 70.44. In conclusion, the post-test of experimental group was higher than the post-test of control group. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) could be accepted. Therefore, it can be stated that the use of mind mapping technique was considered effective in teaching reading narrative text.
