The aim of this research was to investigate the process of using Crossword Puzzle media in improving students vocabulary. The research design employed in this research was Classroom Action Research which consisted of four main steps: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting, conducted in two cycles. The study was conducted at eighth grade of SMPN 10 Kota Serang which comprised of 39 students. Observation sheets, documentation, pre-test and post-test were used as instruments to collect the data. The research was considered successful if the degree of the students vocabulary score throughout the implementation achieved Minimum Mastering Criteria (MMC) or Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM); it was 72. The findings of the research showed that learning by using Crossword Puzzle media could improve students vocabulary mastery. In the first cycle, there are 3 (7,69%) students who categorized in completed category. On other hand in the second cycle total students completed increase became 100%. It can be inferred, that learning by using Crossword Puzzle media could improve the students vocabulary ability. It can be seen from students score improvement in their vocabulary composition. It is finally suggested that the teachers may use Crossword Puzzle media in teaching vocabulary mastery. The other researchers were invited to conduct further research based on the findings of this study to develop better method in the teaching of vocabulary.
