The objective of the research was to find out whether there is the influence of using LRD strategy toward students’ reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMPN 20 Kota Serang or not. Therefore, the researcher conducted the true experimental research. The population of the research was the eighth grade of SMPN 20 Kota Serang in academic year 2015/2016. The two classes of the population were taken as the sample, namely VIIIf as experimental group and VIIIe as control group. The experimental group was taught by using LRD strategy and the control group was taught by using silent reading. As instrument of the test, pre-test and post-test were given toboth of group. In this research, the researcher used material about descriptive text both of pre-test and post-test. The research finding showed that there was improvement between pre-test and post-test result. It could be seen from the mean score pre-test of experimental group was 48.50 and control group was 40.33. After giving treatments, the improvement could be seen for experimental group which had mean score of post-test was 73.17. Meanwhile, the mean score of post-test in the control group was 64.67. Finally, the result of analyzing the post-test both experimental and control group showed that tcount more than ttable (3.611 ≥ 2.002). It means the H0 (null hypothesis) was refused and there was positive influence of using Listen – Read – Discuss (LRD) strategy towards students’ reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMPN 20 Kota Serang.
