THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ENGLISH ANIMATED MOVIE TOWARD STUDENTSí WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT SEVENTH GRADE OF MTS DAAR AL-ILMI SERANG-BANTEN

The Objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness of English animated movie towards students’ writing descriptive text at the seventh grade of MTs Daar Al-Ilmi Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by implementing quasi experimental design as the research method. The population of this study was the students of the seventh grade of MTs Daar Al-Ilmi Serang-Banten. The sample was divided into two groups, namely control group and experimental group. There were 22 students in control group and 22 students in experimental group. The experimental group was taught by using English animated movie and control group was taught without using English animated movie. After conducting the treatments and evaluating both pre-test and post-test by instructing students to write a descriptive paragraph, the researcher found that there was significant influence of using English animated movie to improve students’ writing skill. The data analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis shows that t-observed value is higher than t-table ( 7 >2.018) at level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom 58. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Based on the findings of this study, it found that English animated movie is effective and applicable at the seventh grade of MTs Daar Al-Ilmi Serang Banten.
