THE INFLUENCE OF WORD WALL MEDIA TOWARD STUDENTS‟ VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 2 PASAR KEMIS

This research aims at finding out whether the application of Word Wall media can influence the students‟ vocabulary mastery significantly. This research was conducted by using experimental research method. The population of this research is the whole eighth grade of SMPN 2 Pasar Kemis consisting of 399 students and by using purposive sampling technique, class 8.8 and 8.9 were chosen as the sample. One class was chosen as an experimental group and another class as a control group. Pre-test and post-test is used to collect the data, and the test given is vocabulary multiple choices question.The research was conducted in four meetings. Moreover, the researcher used Pearson Product Moment in analyzing the validity and Spearman Brown to calculate the reliability. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed them by using Independent t-test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS v.21.0.The result showed that the sig. (2-tailed) was 0.001 while the alpha level was 0.05. It showed that sig. (2-tailed) was not higher than the alpha level (0.001 < 0.05). Therefore, the null hypothesis is refused and the alternative hypothesis is received. It means that there was a positive influence between the group treated with word wall media. The result of the research showed that the use of word walls media was significantly influence students‟ vocabulary.
