IMPROVING STUDENTSí VOCABULARY MASTERY TROUGH LISTENING ENGLISH SONG AT SEVENTH GRADE OF SMP ISLAM DAARUL FALAH KOTA SERANG

The Objective of this research were to describe the process of students‟ vocabulary mastery and to know there was an improvement of students‟ vocabulary mastery after they use listening English song technique at seventh grade of SMP Islam Daarul Falah Kota Serang. The method used in this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR), in which the researcher observed and gave treatments for teaching vocabulary. The subject of this research was 22 students in class VIIA of SMP Islam Daarul Falah Kota Serang. In this research, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test to collect data. The researcher applied two meetings on cycle 1 and two meetings on cycle 2. Each cycle consisted of four steps: planning, action, observation and reflection. The result showed that in pre-test, the students got mean score 49.09 (low). In post-test 1, they got 63.35 (moderate). In post-test 2, they got 83.32 (good). The result has shown that there was significant result of students‟ from pre-test and post-test. From the result of study, it showed that there was positive effect of using English songs in teaching vocabulary process. It indicates that using listening English song could improve students‟ vocabulary mastery at seventh grade of SMP Islam Daarul Falah Kota Serang. As suggestion, the researcher hopes that the teachers have to be able to choose appropriate strategy in teaching vocabulary mastery.
