THE INFLUENCE OF VIDEO AS TEACHING MEDIA TOWARD STUDENTSí SPEAKING ABILITY (AN EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH AT THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 3 KOTA SERANG)

The aim of this study was to find out the influence of video as teaching media toward students’ speaking ability at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 3 Kota Serang in academic year 2015/2016. The subjects of this study were 72 students. This research use Quasi-experimental Research as research design, adopted from Ary Donald et al 2010. The population of this research was the 10th grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Kota Serang in academic year 2015/2016. Two classes were taken as the sample of this research, namely X.7 as control class and X.8 as experimental class. The control class was taught by using power point media and experimental class was taught by using video media. The data of this research was collected by giving tests namely pre-test and post-test and analyzed by using independent ttest. Based on the students’ speaking score, it showed the significant level of the test was 0.002 at ɑ 0.05 (5%) and the degree of freedom was 70. The significant level of the test was higher than 0.05. It means that the alternative hypothesis alternative (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a significant influence of video as teaching media toward student’s speaking ability at tenth grade of SMA Negeri 3 Kota Serang academic year 2015/2016.
