THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PEER FEEDBACK TECHNIQUE TOWARD STUDENTSí WRITING SKILL IN RECOUNT TEXT AT THE SECOND GRADE OF SMPN 14 KOTA SERANG

The objective of this study is aimed to know whether peer feedback technique is effective or not toward students’ writing skill in recount text. This study was undertaken in SMPN 14 Kota Serang. The population of this research is the second grade students which consist of 322 students. Meanwhile, the samples of this research are VIII G class and VIII H class with 35 students as the sample for each class. The researcher collected the data by conducting pre-test and post-test. In this research, the researcher applied quasi experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The two classes are divided into control and experimental class. The result of this research shows that peer feedback technique is effective toward students’ writing skill. It is proved by the improvement of student’s mean score. The mean score of pre-test of control and experimental class was 60,6 and 60,9, while the mean score of post-test of control and experimental class was 68 and 72,3. Eventually, the experimental class shows better improvement. Furthermore, the result of t-test (tcount) is 2,622. Compared to the value of tcount with the degree of significance 5% (2,002), 2,622 > 2,002, it is proved that the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected. In addition, the students also felt interested and motivated in writing class.
