IMPROVING STUDENTSí VOCABULARY THROUGH TRACE EFFECTS GAME AT TENTH GRADE OF SMA AL-MUBAROK KOTA SERANG

The objective of the research were get the students’ improvement in vocabulary and the process of implementation of Trace Effects Game in students’ vocabulary. Generically, vocabulary is the knowledge from meaning of words. Vocabulary refers to the teaching of word meaning. The use of this research was to apply Trace Effects Game and show the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery. The researcher used qualitative research which applied classroom action research (CAR) as research methodology. The researcher used X B class of tenth grade at SMA Al-Mubarok Kota Serang which consisted of 15 students. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisted of four steps, there are; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The instruments used in collecting the data were observation, test, and documentation. The result of the research showed that the use of Trace Effects Game and how Trace Effects Game improved students’ vocabulary mastery. The result of students average score in pre-test was 46.33, 63.33 at the post-test cycle 1 and 79.33 in post-test of cycle 2. From the result, it can be concluded that using Trace Effects Game can give students improvement in their vocabulary mastery. In the improvement, students vocabulary mastery was increased from cycle 1 which 13.33% into 73.33% at the cycle 2.
