THE INFLUENCE OF USING COMIC STRIP TOWARDS STUDENTS’ WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT (AN EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH AT EIGHTH GRADE OF SMPN 9 KOTA SERANG)

The background of this research was based on students’ problems in the process of writing narrative text. The objective of this research is to find out the influence of using comic strip towards students’ writing narrative text at the eight grade of SMP Negeri 9 Kota Serang. This research used quantitative method and employed quasiexperimental design. The population of this research was eighth grade students of SMPN 9 Kota Serang in academic year 2015/2016. Two classes were taken as the sample of this research, namely 8D as control class and 8C as experimental class. The control class was taught by usual text and experimental class was taught by using comic strip. The data of this research was collected by giving tests namely pre-test and posttest and analyzed used independent sample ttest . Based on the students’ writting score in post-test on the experimental and control class , it showed the value of ttable was 1.995 and the Tcount was 2.217. Ttable was lower than Tcount or 1.995 < 2.217. It meant that the alternative hypothesis alternative (Ha) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was influence of using comic strip towards students’ writing narrative text at the Eighth grade students of SMPN 9 Kota Serang
