IMPROVING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY THROUGH MATCHING PICTURE GAME AT SDN SAGA III BALARAJA KABUPATEN TANGERANG

The objectives of this research were to describe the process of improving students‟ vocabulary mastery by using matching picture game as the technique and to know the improvement of students‟ vocabulary mastery after taught by using matching picture game at fifth grade of SDN Saga III Balaraja Kabupaten Tangerang. The method used in this research was classroom action research in which the researcher observed and gave the treatments for teaching vocabulary. There were two cycle in classroom action research. The subject of this research was 40 students in fifth grade of SDN Balaraja Kabupaten Tangerang. In this research, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test. The students‟ average score of pre-test was 62.25, the students‟ average score of pos-test 1 was 87.375 and the students‟ average score of post-test 2 was 90.125. so, the students‟ percentage who passed the KKM from pre-test to post-test 1 improved 55% and from post- est1 to post-test 2 improved 12.5%.the students got the improvement from the minimum score of English subject that was 70. Furthermore, the students felt motivated in learning English. In, conclusion, matching picture game was effective to improve students‟ vocabulary mastery.
