THE INFLUENCE OF USING RECIPROCAL TEACHING STRATEGY TOWARD STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION ON DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

The objective of this research is to investigate the influence of using Reciprocal Teaching strategy on students’ reading comprehension at the seventh grade students of MTs Al-Hasyimiyah Cilegon. The researcher used a quasi experimental research. This research was conducted in four meetings. The population of this research was seventh grade students at MTs Al-Hasyimiyah Cilegon, and the sample of this research were 44 students which consist of 22 of VII D students as experimental class and 22 of VII C student as a control class. The researche is apply reciprocal teaching strategy in experimental class and apply lecturing only in control class. The instruments used were pre-test and posttest. The result of the research showed that there was any influence of using reciprocal teaching strategy in experimental class post-test score. It was proved by the result of T-test 2.66 > T-table 2.02. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It can be concluded that there is any influence of using reciprocal teaching strategy toward students’ reading comprehension on descriptive text at the seventh grade srudents of MTs AlHasyimiyah Cilegon.
