IMPROVING STUDENTSí ABILITY IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT BY USING MIND MAPPING STRATEGY AT TENTH GRADE OF SMA NEGERI 4 KABUPATEN TANGERANG

The objective of research was to find out that mind mapping strategy can improve students’ ability in writing narrative text at tenth grade of SMAN 4 Kabupaten Tangerang. This research was a classroom action research. The implementation of classroom action research was conducted into two cycles, cycle I and cycle II. Each cycle consisted of three meetings and ended with post test. This research involved the students of X-11 which consisted of 42 students. The instruments used in collecting data were observation, test (Pre-test and post test) and documentation. The data of this research were quantitative and qualitative. The result of this research showed that mind mapping strategy could improve students’ ability in writing narrative text. It shown in pre-test before mind mapping strategy was applied, most of students’ score under KKM which average 58. Meanwhile, after giving the treatments in cycle I and II, students’ score increased which average 72 for post test I and 79.5 for post test II. By that finding, it can assume that mind mapping strategy can help students to improve their ability in writing narrative text.
