The objectives of the research is to find out the influence of cooperative integrated reading and composition method toward students’ reading comprehension at eighth grade of SMPN 4 Kota Serang. This research used quantitative approach through quasi experimental non equivalent as a research design. In taking the sample, cluster random (non random) sampling tecnique was used. The population of this research were all of eighth grade students of SMPN 4 Kota Serang and the sample used in this research were the students of VIII B as the experimental class and VIII D as the control class. Each class consisted of 30 students. As the result, the researcher showed the average score of pre test in experimental class is 55.7 and became 90.9 in the post test. Meanwhile, in control class the average score of pre test is 60.5 and became 79.4 in the post test. In finding a significant difference between two variables, the researcher conducted t test. The result showed tcount was higher than ttable (3.500 ≥ 1.672). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. So, the researcher concluded that, there was a significant influence of students’ reading comprehension by using CIRC method at eigth grade of SMPN 4 Kota Serang. The researcher also expected that CIRC method could be used as one alternative teaching technique to teach reading.
