The objective of this research was to describe the phenomenon and process of using English Learning srategy in speaking skill that applied by the seventh grade of students at SMPIT Bina Insani Serdang. The researcher used qualitative method. This research was conducted at SMPIT Bina Insani Seradang in academic 2014/2015. The population of this research was 110 students from the seventh grade of SMPIT Bina Insani Serdang with involved 24 students as representative sample. It could be meant that the researcher involved one class consisted 24 students as the participant in this research. The researcher collected the data by using observation, interview and questionnaire. According to the theories, the data were analyzed through six kinds of learning strategies. They were memory strategy, cognitive strategy, compensation strategy, metacognitive srtategy, affective strategy, and social strategy. The result of this reasearch revealed that social strategy was slightly applied by students in their learning process. Steadily, it was showed by the number of percentage which gained 56,49%. Meanwhile, this research also pointed out that the percentage of metacognitive strategy which gained significantly 74,33%. It was the highest percentage if the researcher compared the percentage among the whole strategies. Metacognitive strategy was the most frequently strategy applied by the students in the process of language learning particularly in the seventh grade of SMPIT Bina Insani Serdang students.
