IMPROVING STUDENTS’ LISTENING ABILITY BY WATCHING ENGLISH CARTOON MOVIE AT EIGHTH GRADE OF SMPIT AL-GHIFARI SERANG

The aims of the research was to know how is the process of teaching listening by watching English cartoon movies can improve students’ listening ability. The process of teaching listening in this research was done effectively. The students enjoyed and participated in the process. They followed the learning process enthusiastically. The researcher used qualitative method by implementing CAR (Classroom Action Research) which consisted of two cycles. There were two meetings in every cycle that involved four activities; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The reseach also was aimed to know the improvement of students’ listening ability by watching english cartoon movie. The subject of this research was 20 students at Eighth grade of SMPIT Al-Ghifari. The instruments used in collecting the data were test, observation and documentation. Based on the result of this reseach, there were good improvement of students’ listening ability by watching English cartoon movie. It can be proven by the result of tests given before and after learning by watching English cartoon movie. The students’ average score in pretest was 47.35. The students’ average score in the cycle I was 82 and in the cycle II was 84.72. Based on the findings, can be concluded that watching English cartoon movie can be implemented in teaching listening skill.
