“THE IMPLEMENTATION OF USING ROLE PLAY TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS SPEAKING ABILITY AT 8TH GRADE OF MTS AL-MUBAROK SERANG

The objectives of this research are to find out the process of implementing role play technique in teaching speaking and to investigate the improvement of students speaking abilityby usingrole play technique. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher conducted a classroom action research. This classroom action research held at MTs AL-Mubarok Serang. The subject of the research was the 8th grade, that is 7A which is consists of 30 students. The researcher carried out three steps. The first step was the pre-test. The second step was the action. The last steps were the post-test. The instruments used in data collecting were test, observation, and documentation. The test was to measure the students improvement. The researcher also made notes. It was used to observe the situation of the class during the activity of this research and documentation included students test, syllabus, lesson plan, observation sheet, dialogue script, students score and students picture. In analyzing the data, the researcher used qualitative and quantitative measurement to find the result. The data showed there was a significant difference of the students achievement in the pre-test and the post-test. The students achievement in pre-test was 53,5. The average score of the students achievement in the first cycle was 61,2 and in the second cycle was70. It improved 7,7 (14,39%) in pretest to posttest 1 and 8,8 (14,37%) in postest 1 to postest 2. The main factor affecting this improvement was the students interest in teaching learning process by using role play technique. Based on this data, the researcher concluded that improving students speaking ability by using role play technique was successfully.
