THE INFLUENCE OF LAST LETTER GAME TOWARD STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION AT THE EIGHTH GRADE OF SMPN 18 KOTA SERANG

The aim of this research was to find out the influence of Last Letter Game toward students reading comprehension. This research was conducted in SMPN 18 Kota Serang on the first semester of academic year 2015/2016. The researcher conducted this research by applying  true experimental method for research design, which consisted of pre-test, treatments, and post-test. The pre-test was given before the researcher gave treatments and the post-test was given after the researcher gave the treatments. The samples in this research were students of VIII B as experimental group and VIII A as control group which consisted of 25 students respectively. In this research, the researcher collected the data by using pre-test and post-test. The results of this research showed that the mean score of pre-test in control group was 47.2. It was 60.2 at the post-test. Meanwhile, the mean score of pre-test in experimental group was 49.8. It was 78.8 at the post-test. Based on those progress of students score, it could be said that the ability of experimental group is better than the control group after getting the treatment of Last Letter Game. In addition, the result of hypothesis test showed that tcount was higher than ttable (4.82 ≥ 2.010) in the degree of freedom was 48 and level or significant 5% (0.05). Thus, it could be concluded that there was significant influence of Last Letter Game toward students reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMPN 18 Kota Serang.
