The topic of this study is “The Effectiveness of Watching Video Towards Students’ Speaking Ability at the Eighth Grade of SMP Chandra Kusuma Jakarta Utara in the Academic Year (2014/2015) a True Experimental”. The objective of this study is to explain the effectiveness of video towards students’ speaking ability for eighth grade at SMP Chandra Kusuma Jakarta Utara. The population of this research was all of the students of eighth grade at SMP Chandra Kusuma Jakarta Utara and the sample that was used in this research was the students of X2 as experimental class and X1 as control class. The researcher used 10 students as samples from both classes. The classes were choosen randomly from the four classes. In this research, the researcher used quantitative approach with true experimental design as the method of the research, the researcher conducted the experiment in order to find the significant effectiveness in experimental class after treatment. The instruments that were used by the researcher by the researcher in this research were the oral test. Moreover, content and construct validity was used to know the validity of tests and Alpha Cronbach formula was used to get the test of the reliability of the research instrument. After collecting data, the researcher analyzed using t-test. The result of this study revealed that the post-test scores were better than the pre-test scores. It can be seen from the result of t-test. . The result of hypothesis showed that tcount is 3.5, while ttable is 1.81. It shows that tcount ≥ ttable or 3.5 ≥ 1.81, therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha ) is received and the null hypothesis (Ho ) is refused. So, it can be concluded that there is significant effectiveness towards students’ speaking ability by using video at eighth grade students of SMP Chandra Kusuma Jakarta Utara.
