The objective of the research was to find out the process of teaching reading comprehension by using fable text. The researcher conducted qualitative method and descriptive method to explain the data. The subject of the research was students of grade X which consists of 39 students. The instruments used in the research were observation, interview and documentation. The research aimed to analyze the teaching of reading comprehension by using fable at SMAN 6 Kota Serang. The result of the study showed that the students have difficulties in comprehending the text because they lack of vocabulary and less interested to read. From the final observation, students felt the practice by using fable was enjoyable because the textswere interesting and the teacher had better with students during teaching learning process. In conclusion, the fable gives many advantages and fable makes the students understand and comprehend the content, more easily and the elements of fable such as intrinsic and extrinsic elements. Students get the knowledge about values from reading fable. Based on the result of the research, the researcher can conclude that fable is appropriate to increase students’ reading comprehension.
