THE INFLUENCE OF USING ROLE PLAY METHOD TOWARD STUDENTS SPEAKING SKILL AT THE FIRST GRADE OF SMAN 9 PANDDEGLANG

The objective of the research is to find out the influence of using role play method toward students speaking skill at the first grade of SMAN 9 Pandeglang in academic year 2015/2016. In this research, all the students in the first grade of SMAN 9 Pandeglang were taken as population. The population was 180 students. This research involves two classes of the first grade of SMAN 9 Pandeglang chosen based on random sampling. One class was chosen as an experimental group and other one as the control group. The samples were 60. The researcher used experimental design. The data were obtained from the students’ pretest and posttest scores. The result of this research showed that role play influenced students speaking skill. The researcher found that there is no difference score between pretest scores of control and experimental class. The control class got 60.93 and experimental group got 61.07. Meanwhile, after the researcher gave the treatment on the experimental class and gave the posttest. The result of the posttest for the control class got score 69,20 and the experiment class got score 78,13. It means that the scores of experimental class was higher than control class. After the researcher gave Role Play as a treatment in students speaking skill can be seen from the result of t-test score in post test score.  The result showed Sig. (2-tailed) was  α, Sig. (2-tailed) was 0.002 <0.05. It means that H0 was refused and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded there is any influence of using role play method toward students speaking skill at the first grade of SMAN 9 Pandeglang.
