THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTSí LEARNING STRATEGY AND READING COMPREHENSION AT SEVENTH GRADE STUDENT OF SMPN 7 KOTA SERANG

The objective of the research is to find out whether there is any significant correlation between students‘ learning strategy and their reading comprehension commonly applied by seventh grade students in SMPN 7 Kota Serang especially in 7G class.In this research, the researcher conducted the research by applying quantitative approach with ex post facto design. The data were measured through Pearson Product Moment in order to seeits correlation between X variables (Students Learning Strategy) and Y variable (Students‘ Reading Comprehension). The population of the research was seventh grade students of SMPN 7 Kota Serang and consist of 42 students and the data was taken on third week of November 2014. The researcher collected the data by using questionnaire and test. The questionnaireconsists of 20 questions with yes or no choice, and the test of reading comprehension consists of 20 questions multiple choice.Based on the calculation, the researcher found the coefficient correlation between X variable and X variable or Rxy = 0,65. According to r interpretation table, it indicated that the correlation between both variable was in high level of correlation. The hypothesis analysis conducted by the researcher found that the result of hypothesis analysis (tcount) is higher than ttablefor N=42 at significance 95% or 5,04≥2,021. It means there is a correlation between students‘ learning strategy and reading comprehension or alternative hypothesis (Ha) received.
