AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTíS LEARNING STRATEGY ON SPEAKING ENGLISH AT SECOND GRADE OF SMPN 1 WARUNGGUNUNG

The objectives of this research were toidentify kinds of the students‟ learning strategy on speaking English, find out the weakness students learning strategy on speaking English and the advantage of disadvantage of students‟ learning strategy on speaking English. The research was conducted at SMPN 1 Warunggunung with the 30 students of VIII E as the subject of the research. This research was held on 28 November until December 5th 2014, qualitative method using document or content analysis design was chosen by the researcher as the research design. The result of the research show that by students speaking strategy memorizing the vocabulary that the teacher say, asking friend to speak it, listening to a song, practicing by seeing dictionary, writing the vocabulary and joining English course. The advantage of student strategy were student understand the meaning, easy to follow teaching learning process, easy to remember new information, enjoy in learning English language, and build students‟ confidence. On the other hand, the disadvantages were the student still had no idea what to say and what to do. Moreover was no guide or someone who watched the student when day conducted the strategy, spoke it with wrong pronunciations and students‟ were lazy to search other source to improve their speaking skill.
