The aim of this research was to analyze code switching used by teacher at the eighth grade of SMPN 3 Kragilan. In this research, there were two problems that tried to be answered: the type of code switching that the teacher do in teaching learning process and the reasons why teacher uses code switching in the teaching learning process. The subjects of this research were the researcher, the English teacher, and the students in 8E class at SMPN 3 Kragilan. The object of this research was the teacher’s code switching. The sources of the data were the English teacher and the students in 8E class at SMPN 3 Kragilan. The main instrument in this research was the researcher as the human instrument who was supported by the use of observation, interview, questionnaires, and documentations. The results of the research showed that there were three types of code switching that the teacher used during the teaching learning process: inter-sentential switching, intra-sentential switching, and tagswitching. Related to the reasons of code switching used, there were some reasons found: quoting somebody, interjection, and repetition used for clarification.
