Improving Studentsí Writing Ability In Narrative Text through Picture Series At Eight Grade Of SMPN 19 Kota Serang

The aim of the research was to find out the improvement of students’ writing ability in narrative text through picture series. This research was conducted in SMP Negeri 19 Kota Serang on the second semester of academic year 2014/1015. The researcher conducted this research based on two research questions of the research problem about improving students’ writing ability in narrative text through picture series. The researcher conducted this research by applying Classroom Action Research (CAR) as a method. This research used picture series as the media that was implemented in class of 8-A which is consisted of 30 students. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Each cycles consisted of two meetings. Before doing the research, the researcher gave pre-test. The average score of pre-test is 50.6. After pre-test, the researcher implemented the cycle and gave post-test. The result of post-test 1 is 70.2. The score of post-test 1 was reached out KKM but the improvement was not significant. So, the researcher conducted the Cycle 2 in order to reach target of KKM score. In post-test 2, the students got 80. It means that there was a significant result between post-test 1 and post-test 2 in order to improve students’ writing ability in narrative text through picture series. Based on the result of the research, the researcher concluded that the using of picture series was one of the appropriate media to improve students’ writing ability in narrative text in order students to be active in learning writing.
