THE INFLUENCE OF BLOG ON STUDENTSí WRITING SKILL AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE OF MAN PONCOWATI LAMPUNG

The purpose of the research was to know the influence of using blog on students‘ writing skill at the eleventh grade of MAN Poncowati Lampung. To achieve the purpose of the research, the researcher conducted true-experimental research at MAN Poncowati Lampung. The population of this research was eleventh grade students of MAN Poncowati Lampung in academic year 2014/2015. For the sampling, the researcher took two classes based on cluster random sampling technique, XI IPS 1 was as experimental class and XI IPS 2 was as control class. Both of classes consisted of 33 students. The experimental class was taught writing skill by using blog, while the control class was taught writing skill by using conventional method or without using blog as the media. The instrument of this research was tests; pre-test and post-test. The research findings showed the result of post-test mean score in experimental class was higher than the result of post-test mean score in control class. The post-test mean score of control class was 66.17 and the post-test mean score of experimental class was 73.52. To prove that the mean score of both classes were significantly different, the data was analyzed by using t-test. The result of data analysis showed that ttest>ttable (3.34 > 1.99) which indicated that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, so it means there was an influence of using blog in students‘ writing skill at the eleventh grade of MAN Poncowati Lampung. It can be conclude that the use of blog in students‘ writing skill helped students to get better achievement in writing.
