THE INFLUENCE OF ENGLISH POP SONG TOWARD STUDENTSí SPEAKING SKILL AT THE 8 th GRADE OF SMPN 7 CILEGON

The objective of this research is to find out the influence of English pop song toward students‟ speaking skill at SMPN 7 Cilegon in the second semester of academic year 2014/2015. The researcher conducted this research by applying quantitative approach with quasi experimental as a method. In this research, all the students in the eighth grade of SMPN 7 Cilegon were taken as population. The populations were 210 students. This research involved two classes of the eighth grade at SMPN 7 Cilegon. The samples were 60 students. The results found that there was significant influence of English pop song toward students‟ speaking skill. It was proven by independent t-test on control group and experimental group. The result was 9,611 in control group and 11,33 in experimental group. As it was confirmed by distribution table with 0,05 level of significance and t-table was 2,04. It showed that the t-test result was higher than t-table. All these suggestion that English pop song was one of the appropriate techniques for a teaching aims at improving students‟ speaking skill.
