THE INFLUENCE OF USING FABLE STORY TOWARD STUDENTSí READING COMPREHENSION AT SEVENTH GRADE OF SMPN 1 MAJASARI

The objectives of this research were to find out whether there is any significant influence of using fable story toward students’ reading comprehension at SMP N 1 Majasari. Also to know weather reading fable story is effective or not in influence student’ reading comprehension at the seventh grade of SMP 1 Majasari, Pandeglang – Banten. The population of this research was all of students of the seventh grade of SMP 1 Majasari, in Pandeglang-Banten, and the sample that was used in this research was taken randomly. The reseacher took two classes as a sample research ( C class and D Class ). C class consist of 33 student as experimental of the class C and D class consist of 33 students as  control class. The researcher used quantitative research implemmenting the true experimental for the research method in this research. The purpose of quantitative research was to know the influence of using fable story toward students’ reading comprehension. The result of pre-test on experimental class were total score = 1500, the highest score = 60, the lowest score = 25, Range score = 35, and mean score = 45.45, where as the result of pretest on control class were total score = 1345, the highest = 55, the lowest score = 25, range score = 30, and mean score = 40.75 and then the result of posttest on experimental class were total score = 1555, the highest score = 70, the lowest score = 30, Range score = 40, and Mean score = 47.12, where as the result of post-test on control class were total score =1370, the highest score = 55, the lowest score = 25, Range score = 30 and Mean score = 41.51. It shows that the score of experimental class is higher than control class. The instrument of research was the test. In conclusion, the researcher concludes that reading fable story is effective to influence students’ reading comprehension skill.
