THE INFLUENCE OF RETELLING ENGLISH SONGS TOWARD STUDENTSí PRONUNCIATION AT THESEVENTH GRADE OF SMPN 13 KOTA SERANG

The objective of this research was to find out is there any significant influence of English song toward students pronunciation at the seventh grade of SMPN 13 Kota Serang. The population of this research was student of seventh grade in SMPN 13 Kota Serang consisted of 280 student. In this research, the researcher used quasi experimental method for research design which consisted of pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The researcher used test as the instrument. The tests consisted of three times of pre-test and three times of post-test. The instrument that was used in this research was vowels word by recording material. For analyzing and calculating the data, the researcher used t-test formula. The result of this research showed that there was positive influence of English song toward student pronunciation. It could be seen by comparing the mean score of each pre-test and post-test. The first test increased 1.81 (from 1.92 to 3.73). The second test increased 2.23 (from 2.13 to 4.36). The third test increased 2.45 (from 2.31 to 4.76). Moreover, the result of t-test revealed significant influence that was obtained. The first test was 22.625, the second test was 37.16 and the thirde test was 30.5 with t-table 2.0622. If t-count was higher than t-table (22.625>2.0622), (37.16>2.0622), and (30,5>2.0622), it mean that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Thus, English song was able to give positive influence toward students‟ English pronunciation for the seventh grade of SMPN 13 Kota Serang.
