THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRE-QUESTIONING TECHNIQUE TOWARD STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION AT THE EIGHTH GRADE OF SMPN 1 GUNUNGSARI KABUPATEN SERANG

The objective of this research is to find out The Effectiveness Of PreQuestioning Technique Toward Students Reading Comprehension At The Eighth Grade Of  Smpn 1 Gunungsari Kabupaten Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by implementing true experimental design as the research method. There were two groups used in this research, experimental and control group. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Gunungsari Kabupaten Serang. From six classes, two classes were selected by using random lottery. VIII-A was selected as experimental group and VIII-C was selected as control group. There were 30 students in both of the groups. Based on the data that has been obtained from the students test score, the process of teaching learning ran active because the students gave positive responses. They could answer the researchers question very well during the learning process. They also asking some questions to the researcher related to the material. After conducting the treatments and evaluating both pre-test and post-test by instructing students given exercise multiple choice, the researcher found that there was significant effect of pre-questioning technique toward students reading comprehension. It can be seen from the value of t-test which was higher than the value of t-table (2.328 > 2.002)and (4.207 > 2.002)with α or level of significant was 0.05. It means that the Ha hypothesis which stated that there is significant effect of pre-questioning technique toward students reading comprehension is accepted. Therefore, from those findings it can be concluded that by using pre-questioning technique can effect students reading comprehension. All the suggestion that the use of pre-questioning technique in teaching reading is highly recommended.
