THE INFLUENCE OF EXTENSIVE READING PROGRAM TOWARD STUDENTSí WRITING ABILITY (An Experimental Research at the First Grade of SMAN 2 Kota Serang in 2014/2015 Academic Year)

The objective of this research was to know the influence of extensive reading toward students‘ writing ability at the first grade of SMAN 2 Kota Serang. The researcher used quantitative research and implemented the true experimental design as the research method. There were two groups involved in this research, the experimental and control group. A sample of this research was students of SMAN 2 Kota Serang at the first grade, 30 students selected for each group. The researcher found that there was a significant influence of extensive reading toward students‘ writing ability, indicated by the value of the t-test higher than the value of the t-table at the level of significance of 0,05 (2,00), 2,40 > 2,00. It means that the hypothesis was accepted. From these findings, it could be concluded that the use of extensive reading was effective to influence students‘ writing ability. All these suggest that the use of extensive reading toward students‘ writing ability was highly encouraged.
