THE INFLUENCE OF IMITATION AND REPETITION TECHNIQUE TOWARD STUDENTS VOCABULARY MASTERY AT SEVENTH GRADE OF SMPI AL-FALAHIYAH TANGERANG

The objectiveof the research was to find out whether the useof imitation and repetition technique had significant influence toward students vocabulary mastery at seventh grade of SMPI Al-Falahiyah Tangerang.The researcher used quantitative approach with true experimental design as a method, the population were students at seventh grade of SMPI Al-Falahiyah Tangerang. Thirty six students were taken as a sample, eighteen students of VII-A as experimental class and eighteen students of VII-B as control. The control class received the traditional method (treatment without imitation and repetition technique) while the experimental class recaivedimitation and repetition as technique. Both classes were given pretest and posttest to find out students vocabulary mastery before the treatment and after the treatment. The instrument of the research that used to collect the data was vocabulary test. The number both of test (pre-test and post-test) were 20 items imultiple choice form and matching test. The researcher used T-test formula to analyze the students pretest and posttest in control and experimental class. Its found that thet-test score between control class and experimental class is 3.565. The distribution table with significance level 0.05and the value of significance level 0.01 It showed thatt count table 0.01 (3.565 > 1.690 > 2.032).Therefore, the null hypothesis was refused and the alternative hypothesis was accepted.Mean score of pretest in control class was 46.11 and it became 60.56 at the posttest. Meanwhile, the mean score of pretest in experimental class was 52.22 and it became 77.78 at the posttest. So, it can be concluded that there was a significant influence of imitation and repetition technique toward students vocabulary mastery at seventh grade of SMPI Al-Falahiyah Tangerang.
