IMPROVING STUDENTSí LISTENING SKILL THROUGH SONG AT FORTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SDN KERANGGOT CILEGON

The objectives of the research were to know the process of the students listening and the improvement of students’listening through songat fourth grade of SDN Keranggot Cilegon.The research was held on March5th until April30th 2014. The researcher usedclassroom action research method , she used Kemmis & Taggart model “Spiral” which consistedof 4 steps were: Planning, acting, observing and reflecting. It was conducted on two cycles.In collecting the data the researcher used tests. In each cycles, the researcher gave tests to know the improvement of students listening and for the result were compare it between cycle I and cycle II. Moreover, the researcher used song to improve students’listening skillin the fourth grade of SDN Keranggot Cilegon. Because, one of the benefit of songswere students could remember the vocabulary, fun and enjoyable. Therefore, students were finally easy to learn English and got successfully their learning. The result of the research based on the data, itcould beseen from the average score of the students listening test. Where the average of pre cycle test were 54,5 it got improvement in the cycle I test is 66.4 the increasing was about 11.9 points. The second cycle was 76.2and post test was 85.8 up to 9.6 points from cycle II. It means that learning throughsong would improve students’listening skill.
